Iceland is still seldom visited in the winter. The endless nights create a strange sense of timelessness and new possibilities.
From October to Mars we have the country for us alone. Biking at this time of the year, in the middle of the nowhere and (maybe) the northern lights dancing over our heads, is an adventure-filled journey you will never forget!
With the uncertain weather in our backpack, we bike through dramatic geological formations with a mix of gravel roads, earthy/grassy tracks, sandy beaches and rocky lava fields. We pass through a black, moss covered lava and a golden shell sand including a visit to the top of a magnificent, 80 years old, lighthouse where we will get a panorama view along the Atlantic Ocean coastline.
For a perfect way to end the tour, a soak in the local thermal hot pot, will leave you feeling content in body and soul.
Activity level: For intermediate /advanced rider. Suitable for most active people with good skills of biking. Note that we can tailor made it for any level from beginner to expert riders.
Fitness level: As you know, the fitter you are the more fun you’ll have. Flexible itineraries take account of fitness, weather and participants’ wishes. Keep in mind that in Iceland the weather can change quickly and wind, snow and rain is common.
Your personal equipment Bring a small backpack, warm clothing, winter gear, good outdoor shoes and warm gloves. Be prepared to ride in challenging weather conditions, like cool snowy days with wind and exposure to the elements.
